Dr. Akweenda studied Law at the University of London (LSE and UCL) where he obtained LL.B., LL.M., and PH.D. He was admitted as a Legal Practitioner in Namibia in May 1997. Gerson has a wide ranging general administrative law, constitutional law, human rights and commercial law as well as construction disputes practice, predominantly as a trial and motion practitioner, and also in the arbitration and dispute resolution fields.
Gerson is presently the Vice President of the Bar Council of the Society of Advocates. He has previously served as acting judge of the High Court of Namibia, and has sat as an arbitrator in labour disputes.
Before joining the Bar, Gerson was the Deputy-Government Attorney within the Office of the Government. Before joining the Government Attorney’s Office he was the Head of the Land, Environment and Development Department of the Legal Assistance Centre. He was admitted as a legal practitioner in 2001, whilst being a legal officer employed by the Legal Assistance Centre. Before joining the Legal Assistance Centre, he was a public prosecutor stationed at Mariental, Hardap Region.

Dennis Khama was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia on 19 July 2004. He joined the Namibian Bar in July 2011. Prior to joining the Bar, he was in State Practice and worked for the Government of the Republic of Namibia in the Ministry of Justice. His career in State practice started as a Public Prosecutor and thereafter he exclusively practiced extradition law and international criminal law.
